R. Mimi Secor, MS, MEd, FNP-C, FAANP, is a nurse practitioner specializing in women’s health in Upton, Massachusetts. She is a well known national speaker and consultant providing educational programs to advanced practice clinicians around the country.
Ms Secor is a founding member of the American College of Clinicians an organization dedicated to advocating for both the NP and PA professions. She is involved in enhancing the image of both professions and working on other challenges shared by both professions.
Ms. Secor earned her BSN and MS at the University of Massachusetts School of Nursing in Amherst and her MEd at Antioch University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She earned her certification as an adult nurse practitioner at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
Her 30 years of clinical experience has included emergency care, college health, private practice, prisons and rural clinics. Ms Secor owned and operated an independent NP practice for 12 years in the greater Boston area before moving to rural western Alaska where she worked for seven years (with a PA) providing primary care.
Ms. Secor’s professional clinical interests include vulvovaginitis, dermatology, infectious diseases, contraception, endocrine disorders (PCOS, obesity, DM), menopause, osteoporosis, sexual concerns, and bladder health. Her other professional interests include entrepreneurial ventures, enhancing the image of the profession through media outreach and working on shared professional challenges faced by both the NP and the PA professions
Ms. Secor has been the recipient of the Massachusetts Nurses Association Image of the Professional Nurse Award and the NP of the Year in Clinical Excellence award from Syntex Labs.
